The Mazatlán Carnival sets itself apart from other carnivals in the country and around the world by offering fun to the beat of "banda" music, the representative music of Sinaloa. Banda music is a regional style that features the tambora and has transcended to the world through what is now called "grupera music". In addition, the festival's program includes cultural activities such as poetry contests, literary awards, and high-quality artistic performances, which is exceptional. These activities extend the celebration to all sectors of the population and encompass the full range of tastes of both locals and tourists.
