The Guelaguetza is one of the most important celebrations in Oaxaca. The origin of this beautiful tradition dates back to pre-Hispanic times, when it was a ritual for the gods, and it has remained an important date for Oaxacans ever since. Over the years the celebration has evolved to become the party that it is today.
This grand event is held each year on the last two Mondays of July. It showcases music, dance, traditional costumes, and foods from the different regions of Oaxaca.
