Preparations for the Sacred Maya Journey 2025 have begun. This ritual, with over 500 years of tradition, combines knowledge of navigation and the maritime trade routes of the ancient Maya in a journey that recalls the greatness of the Itza peoples as Great Navigators who established important trade routes. The canoers will pay tribute to Ixchel, the deity associated with fertility, the moon, and gestation. In Cozumel, while presenting offerings, they will seek the advice and wisdom of the goddess through her oracle, before making the return journey to bring good news to their communities.
