The festivities begin with the coronation of King Feo or King Momo. On the first Thursday before Ash Wednesday, the Children's Band runs through the main streets of the city or the 20th Street boardwalk circuit. Crowds gather from the early hours on Avenida Juárez and in the Historic Center to witness the traditional Saturday of Bando or Bando General de Carnaval, in which kings wear their coronation costumes and enjoy the excitement of a parade of allegorical cars with various costumed characters in extravagant outfits.
